'monomania' is (probably) my favoruite album by car seat headrest (CSH) (although i'm consistently teetering between 'monomania' & 'twin fantasy'...).
'romantic theory', and 'sleeping with strangers' were my earliest introductions to CSH, the first being the opening track and written from the perspective of will toledo's partner (at least the first verse is). the second song 'sleeping with strangers' hypothesises what may ensue following his suicide, and highlights the dichotomy between the album's upbeat instrumentals and will's lyrical lamenting. Whereas songs such as 'maude gone' and 'time to die' convey the underlying melancholic apathy present throughout the album. the album embodies the emerging disgruntled, regret, and bitterness that comes with the aftermath of a (in this case, romantic) dysfunctional relationship, best showcased in 'overexposed (enjoy)' and 'souls'. the finale track 'anchorite (love you very much)' imparts a sense of acceptance while simultaneously acting as a microcosm of 'monomania's' attempt to convey will's emotionally charged inner turmoil and conflict.

Souls (personally, i have indeed been forced to attend a party an individual i had been romantically involved with was present at, and i will tell you, this was exactly what was going through my mind!! although... i'll admit (mayhaps not to the same emotional extent), this is somewhat what goes through my head when i'm at any party)

this is just personally one of my favoruites!!, but she's a very known artist so i decided against puting every one of her albums on here even though i'm in love with her other albums and 100% recommend them (if you haven't already listened to them)
